Priorities
SUSTAINABILITY
Sustainability is the ability to meet the needs of the present without sacrificing the needs of the future. The needs can be environmental, social, or economic in nature. Morrisville’s rapid growth has come at the cost of our natural environment, our infrastructure, and our community well-being. This is not progress; it’s an imbalance. We cannot build in ways that destroy the very things that draw people to Morrisville in the first place. Morrisville is already addressing some sustainability needs, but more can be done.
As your elected representative, I will work with my fellow council members to:
Preserve and expand Morrisville’s tree canopy and green spaces.
Promote sustainable development that protects natural resources and community well-being.
Advance the implementation of Morrisville’s Master Sustainability Plan.
Support the adoption of a Sustainable Development Code focused on walkability, climate resilience, and reduced car dependency.
Encourage native landscaping and pollinator-friendly gardens.
TRANSPORTATION
We all know that Morrisville has a traffic congestion problem. Overdeveloping and roadway expansion will only encourage more of the same. We need better solutions. We cannot build our way out of this problem unless we are willing to prioritize the pedestrian in our planning. Shaded sidewalks, bike lanes, and greenways should be prioritized and considered part of our transportation network to encourage people to use them. Being able to travel safely to the places we need without a car is the only way to improve our traffic congestion.
As your elected representative, I will work with my fellow council members to:
Expand Morrisville’s Smart Shuttle Program to make the service more accessible and dependable.
Collaborate with the Town of Cary to coordinate and enhance our shared transportation network.
Prioritize safe pedestrian routes for our children walking or bicycling to school.
Expand sidewalk, bike path, and greenway infrastructure.
Advocate for the rapid implementation of Bus Rapid Transit through Morrisville to advance our Transit Oriented Development District.
COMMUNITY
Much of our sense of community comes from how we design our surroundings. It’s found in our parks, schools, community centers, and small businesses. But when we design our town around cars, the result is separated and disconnected communities. We can lose that enriching resident-focused community experience.
By prioritizing pedestrian-oriented development patterns, we can create the vibrant public places that we all crave while at the same time strengthening social bonds, supporting local economic development, improving our health, and reducing our dependence on cars. A more connected Morrisville is a more perfect Morrisville.
As your elected representative, I will work with my fellow council members to:
Protect and expand parks and shared public spaces.
Promote land use that brings people together, supports local businesses, and reflects our town’s diversity.
Design our new Town Center for all ages, with spaces welcoming to kids, teens, adults, and seniors.
Support zoning that enables walkable, family-friendly, multi-generational, mixed-use neighborhoods.
Elevate resident voices, especially seniors, young adults, renters, marginalized, and diasporic communities in shaping local decisions.
